Family legend only states that "Uncle Marion never came home from the war." He left a wife and two young children. She remarried sometime in 1865 to another Confederate veteran who had served in the 3rd Louisiana. Somehow they had reason to believe he was dead. Mansfield? The pursuit of Bank's army below Alexandria? Ambushed by Jayhawkers after the regiment disbanded?" His tombstone is marked with the Southern Cross and says Company G, 28th LA Infantry. We have papers showing that he received a Confederate pension of $3.95 per quarter in May 1902. On his application he lists the mames of Bob Jones and Morris Burnstein as comrades in arms, both of Winfield, LA. He also stated that he couldn't remember the letter of his company.
