James and Mary Ann (Peavy) were married on 15 January, 1861, in Jefferson Parrish, Louisiana. After the war Sgt. Sims and Mary Ann moved from Louisiana to Texas. He died on 22 November 1900, in Angelina County, Texas, and is buried in the Sims Cemetary located on HWY 103, East of Lufkin, Texas. Confederate Pension # 11334
