Winn Par., La. // The following Submitted by: Peggy WARREN HALL [cajun@primenet.com] "Hugh Walter WARREN was my great-grandfater. He was b. 1847 in St. Clair Co., AL, the son of Zacariah WARREN and Nancy NORMAN. The family came to Winn Parish in 1854 under very tragic circumstances.

The family came from St. Clair Co., AL in March, 1854. Most of the trip was by boat. As they travelled up the Ouachita River they all acquired cholera. During one week five family members died of the disease. They are said to be buried in the Old Trenton Cemetary in Monroe.

Hugh and family lived on the Old Gansville Road, halfway between Gansville and Dodson. He was building a house on the property in the winter of 1901 when he caught pneumonia and died at the age of 54 yrs.

{Side note: Hugh's brother, William Benson Warren, became a State Representative of Jackson Parish, and signed the secession bill for Louisiana in 1861. He was responsible for organizing 3 separate companies of soldiers. He d. 8 Aug, 1863 during the War after a long illness.}" (Added 12/29/98)//

Their father was Reason Wooley/Woolley from Sparta. He died in 1876 in Sparta. Jacob E Wooley and Robert Fulton Wooley is buried in Falls County Texas. Robert Fulton grave is unmarked but there is a space between the headstones of Mary Wooley (wife of Robert) and Jacob E Wooley and I think this is where he is buried. PV Wooley is buried Little Flock Cemetary just east of Temple Texas in Bell County (Central Texas). They also had an older brother by the name of John Marshall Wooley who fought with the 9th "Bushy Valley Guard" La.
